On Your Mark, Get Set...

Welcome to year two of my project to cycle every street in St. Albert. Last year I *just* squeaked in enough streets on my last ride to reach 50% completed.

However, it is important to note that CityStrides only cares about the NUMBER of streets, not the length of roadway. St. Albert Trail, which is approximately 8 km long within the city limits, counts as one street. Lee Place, below, is approximately 35 m long, and it too counts as one street.

So while I may be 50% complete in one sense, I'm pretty sure that I will have to cycle significantly more kilometers this year to finish the other half.

On the other hand, last year I didn't start until after the July long weekend, while this year, thanks to the early warm weather, I'm ready to go by mid-May!

A special thanks to the staff at Cranky's Bike Shop here in St. Albert for getting my bike, Nob (new orange bike), all ready for another year of riding. We put on new pedals and everything. You can probably guess what my favorite color is 😊
