Ride #21 - An Evening By The (Jensen) Lake
Jensen Lakes is home to St. Albert's first artificial lake, Jensen Lake. It is a relatively new neighbourhood that started developing along the east edge (St. Albert Trail) and has been moving westward.
I took two different routes to get to Jensen Lakes, and each was about 4 km of pedalling over roads I've already cycled. It reduces the number of new streets I can cycle in one outing, but it was a beautiful evening to just be out on the bike.
1. Newbury Park, North Ridge [map]
It's a large, solid shelter, but I wouldn't call it a picnic shelter, as there's no table to eat at, just a couple benches.
2. Jennifer Crescent, Jensen Lakes [map]
I wouldn't want to move into one of first houses in what is essentially still a construction zone...
3. Jensen Lake, Jensen Lakes [map]
The lake itself is approximately 8 hectares (~20 acres). If you live in Jensen Lakes, you pay into a Homeowner Association (HOA).
The lake has a 100,000 sq ft beach and a 7,500 sq ft "Beach Club" building. It was nice to see the beach being used.
4. Township Road 542B [map]
Just an old grainery that caught my eye.
5. Jacobs Close, Jensen Lakes [map]
A small island in a middle of the street (ok, it's actually a bulb - see map below). I love the quintessential Alberta street hockey net.

6. Juneau Way, Jensen Lakes [map]
If you like movies, then this street is the street for you! That's a Landmark Theatre looming over the houses (there's even a walkway to the theatre). I wonder what their backyard experience is like, though?
7. North Ridge Park, North Ridge [map]
I like to play with photo editing software, high dynamic range (HDR) photography, long exposure photography, etc. It provides different ways to look at a scene.
